why trust me?
I’ve had tremendous losses in my life. I’ve had serious illnesses. I understand what it’s like not to feel well in your body; what it’s like not to know where to turn, who to trust, and what to try; and what it’s like to feel alone and defeated.
All these experiences have fueled my professional development and my spiritual journey.
I have long understood that the body is more than what you see and this has informed my 40 years of work as a massage therapist.
As a long time practitioner of meditation, I also bring compassionate attention to each session and to each client.
And, I listen not just to what you say but what your body is saying.
Massage has been my lifelong interest, but it was only after getting a BA in History at the University of Michigan that I realized it. I went on, subsequently, to study and graduate from the Shiatsu Therapy Center in Boston and the Swedish Institute in New York City, ultimately getting my license in New York State. Through the many years of my practice, I have pursued continuing education in this field, which has evolved tremendously. You can read more about the different modalities I use on the Sessions page.
From years of meditation practice, I am able to bring focused attention to each massage. My goal is to be truly present for you, and thus give the best service I can.
Before the massage begins, you will have the opportunity to tell me what is going on in your body as I take a brief medical history. You do not have to know which massage modality to ask for - unless you have a specific request. I will design a session for you with your input; the key to a great massage is communication and a partnership in healing. You will feel refreshed long after you leave your session as your muscles and body are freed from tightness, stress and toxins.
Satu genuinely cares about your health and takes the time to listen and plan with you. I true gem! Her office is clean and relaxing, and she is warm and professional. I recommend her with no hesitation."
